Marvel-ous Monday: "Behind the Mask of Zo!" by Goodwin, Heck, and Shores
Greetings, Groove-ophiles! Well, here we are! The final issue of the "green" era of Marvel's Captain Marvel--issue #16 (June 1969). If you haven't noticed, the most consistent thing about the early Captain Mar-Vell was that nothing was consistent! His motives changed, his powers changed, his mission changed, and even his costume changed a little (up to this point). Now, under the hands of author Archie Goodwin and artists Don Heck and Syd Shores, the whole magilla was getting wrapped up, and Marv would have a totally different look (and outlook, and powers, and mission...) by the end of "Behind the Mask of Zo!" Marvel-ous Monday: "Traitors or Heroes?" by G. Friedrich, Springer, and Colletta
Greetings, Groove-ophiles! With Captain Marvel #13 (February 1969), Gary Friedrich took over the writing chores for a few issues, continuing Mar-Vell's ongoing battle with the robotic Man-Slayer. Frank Springer steps in as penciler for a couple issues, with Vinnie Colletta inking. In "Traitors or Heroes?" we also get a slug-out between Marv and Col. Yon-Rogg, and Carol Danvers gets a pretty big role--as a damsel-in-distress (it would be a while before she'd become a super-hero, herself, gang).

Marvel-ous Monday: "Between Hammer and Anvil!" by Drake, Heck, and Colletta
Greetings, Groove-ophiles! We're back with more cosmic craziness from Arnold Drake, Don Heck, and Vinnie Colletta from Captain Marvel #9 (October 1968)! With "Between Hammer and Anvil", Marv is still stuck between battling the Aakon and the giant robot Cyberex, but, strategic genius that he is, Marv soon sets his enemies against one another. This one is pretty action-packed, and pre-super-hero Carol Danvers gets quite a bit of "screen time" (albeit mostly of the damsel-in-distress variety). Check it out!
