Marvel-ous Mondays: "Confrontation!" by Wolfman, Kane, and the Tribe

Greetings, Groove-ophiles! Due to Monday's post on the passing of Rich Buckler, Ol' Groove's moved our regular Monday post to Friday just this once. Thanks for your kind indulgence.

Here's the finale to Marv Wolfman and Gil Kane's "Air Pirates of Mars" saga from Marvel's John Carter Warlord of Mars #10 (December 1977). This one's inked by The Tribe, btw, but Kane's pencils shine and the inks are pretty consistent throughout. And dig Kane's inks on the cover!

Black and White Wednesday: "The Crack of the Whip" by Mantlo, Perez, and the Tribe

Hey, hey, hey, Groove-ophiles! After all the cosmic goings-on in the last Sons of the Tiger outing, writer Bill Mantlo and artist George Perez gave us a more gritty, down to earth episode in Deadly Hands of Kung Fu #12 (April 1975). "The Crack of the Whip" focuses on Son of the Tiger Abe Brown and introduces Nathan Alexander Byrd, aka Blackbyrd! It's kung-fu Blaxploitation in the Mighty Marvel Manner, baby! Can you dig it?

Greetings, Groove-ophiles! Today let's spend some time with a fave mag--Savage Sword of Conan #14 (June 1976). Roy Thomas was a master of putting together magnificent black and white comic mags, and because of that Savage Sword was always a high-quality read 'cause Roy only accepted the best of the best in art.
