Random Reads: "The Arena of the Frost-Dragon" by Maggin and Vosburg

Hey, hey, hey, Groove-ophiles! Time for some sword-and-science swashbuckling action via the combined talents of writer Elliot S! Maggin, penciler Mike Vosburg, and inker Vinnie Colletta. From Starfire #3 (September 1976), prepare to enter..."The Arena of the Frost-Dragon"!

  1. Vosburg's art back then was really hit and miss for me, and Starfire was really one of the hits. He really seemed to like the character and put an extra effort into the art. And this is also one of those cases when Colletta's inks actually enhance (or at least don't take anything away from) the pencil art.
It's too bad the writing wasn't as consistently good: I think there was a new writer every other issue!
