Random Reads: "Stay Tuned" by ? and Villamonte

Dig it, Groove-ophiles! Here's the lead story from Gold Key's Twilight Zone #60 (September 1974), "Stay Tuned!" Ol' Groove doesn't know who the writer is, but they sure came up with a cool idea--one that tied into our TV culture and gave new meaning to turning someone on (or off)! Stand-out art by Ric (Beowulf) Villamonte, to boot!

  1. Wow. Tower of Shadows # 1 all over again. Was Jim Steranko aware of this blatant plagiarism?

  2. Love the original Twilight Zone series. Especially those intro by Rod Serling. Sad he passed away so young, would of loved to seen a TZ movie in the 80's done right byu him. I hope you can post more of these soon. Thanks for reading my request. You made my day!

I wrote "Stay Tuned" when I was 19 years old. Correcting the comment by keythd23 above, I wasn't plagiarizing Steranko. I never read any copies of TOWER OF SHADOWS, and only learned about the Steranko story he's citing just now, reading his comment. Steranko's a genius, of course. I'll have to dig up a copy and see what he did with the idea.

As for the rest of ya, the purpose of this blog is to (re)introduce you to the great comics of the 1970s. If you like what you see, do what I do--go to a comics shop, bookstore, e-Bay or whatever and BUY YOUR OWN!
