Groovy Christmas' Past: Frank Miller and more in Super-Star Holiday Special

Merry Christmas, Groove-ophiles! Ol' Groove wishes you the best of the best today. By now you've probably opened all of your presents, but I have one more for ya, baby! From 1979, here's DC's Super-Star Holiday Special (DC Special Series #21) featuring Jonah Hex, Batman (Frank Miller's first-ever Batman art!), DC's horror hosts, Sgt. Rock, and the Legion of Superheroes (with gorgeous art by Jose Louis Garcia Lopez, who also provided the magnificent cover). A more dazzling and dy-no-mite array of Christmas comics you'd be hard pressed to find! Eat your heart out, Santa!

  3. Mike, it doesn't matter which of us is the biggest geek, as long as we're geeks, right? ;D

Merry Christmas back at'cha, cerebus660! I knew some folks would be needing their online comics fix today, especially with so many websites and blogs taking the day off (slackers! just kidding...)

The secret is, I make 'em up ahead of time (like when everybody's out shopping to get me a present), then just click post when I get a spare minute. Don't you guys tell anyone about that, though--Ol' Groove's only divulging secrets to the most dedicated of Groove-ophiles! ;D

Hope Santa brought ya what ya wanted! Have a great Christmas!

As for the rest of ya, the purpose of this blog is to (re)introduce you to the great comics of the 1970s. If you like what you see, do what I do--go to a comics shop, bookstore, e-Bay or whatever and BUY YOUR OWN!
