As for the rest of ya, the purpose of this blog is to (re)introduce you to the great comics of the 1970s. If you like what you see, do what I do--go to a comics shop, bookstore, e-Bay or whatever and BUY YOUR OWN!

My father was a HUGE fan of Fawcett Publications. By the time I came along, he still had a nice set of Fawcett superhero and western comics from the 40s.
ReplyDeleteThe odd thing about the Marvel Family of comics was that, often, the Captain Marvel JUNIOR stories were more "realistic" than the regular Captain Marvel stories. Mac Raboy was a master artist, and it was interesting to see DC try their hand at new Marvel Jr. stories in the 70s....
My dad's fave comics were the Fawcett ones as well, Chris. I remember him actually being a bit excited when I told him Captain Marvel and family were coming back.
ReplyDeleteI think Dave Cockrum did a pretty good tribute to Mac Raboy here. Got the spirit of the style, that's for sure.
