NINTH ANNIVERSARY POST! The Grooviest Covers of All Time: Nine Nines for Our Ninth!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, Groove-ophiles!

Can ya believe it? Nine years ago today, Ol' Groove started this blog with no real idea of what he was doing! Now, after nine years--I still dunno what I'm doin'! I sure am having fun doing it, though! Ol' Groove hopes you are, too, 'cause it really is all for you, Groove-ophiles! Way back in 2008, I never dreamed that this blog would last this long, or that I'd meet so many far-out folks (fans and pros, alike), or that so many Groovy Age mags would finally wind up in tpb form for all the world to enjoy! Keep on truckin', Groove-ophiles! And to say "thanks for your support," here are nine of Ol' Groove's favorite ninth issue covers from the Groovy Age!

This is the one site that I look forward to checking every day, knowing it will have something completely new. Your selections and knowledge cover every genre of comic, which is what makes this site a delight to check daily, wondering what treasures you have unearthed for us,and what part of comic history we will learn about today.

  16. Happy 9th!
I love re-visiting comics I grew up with and catching up on all the ones I missed. Some commenters say they start the day with your blog; I tend to end mine with it. But the results are the same: a fun way to relax and even learn a thing or two.

Keep on groovin' for at least another 9!

  20. Congrats and many thanks. No day is complete without stopping by here to see what the heck is going on. There are often surprises!
I believe that Warlock cover is the first appearance of his new costume. He's sportin' some snappy new duds, with a cape no less. It means he's getting serious.
I think Warlock should've kept the lightening bolt on the chest, however. It's a classic! Fawcett's Captain Marvel, the Golden Age Flash. It's an homage.
But, maybe lightening bolts and capes don't go together, unless you're Merlin.
    Cheers, and thanks again!

  22. Happy 9th Anniversary. Don't think I've been here from the beginning, but pretty darn close (I think it was while I was searching the web for Dave Cockrum the I came across this site). Your selection of covers was superb. But I'm sure that was your intent.
