Hey, hey, hey, Groove-ophiles! Has Ol' Groove got a sci-fi shocker for you! Digging through Warren's 1984 mag (trying to find something "PG" to use--no easy task!), what should appear but this highly pedigreed classic by Len Wein, Michael Netzer (formerly Mike Nasser), and Alfredo Alcala! Not a creative team you'd be normally wont so see, but here they are from 1984 #5 (cover-dated February 1979)..."The Box!"

As for the rest of ya, the purpose of this blog is to (re)introduce you to the great comics of the 1970s. If you like what you see, do what I do--go to a comics shop, bookstore, e-Bay or whatever and BUY YOUR OWN!

Nasser was a great talent; I remember he did half a Marvel Team-up with Spiderman and Nightcrawler and the layouts were aces. Too bad he retired.
ReplyDeleteCould you put some of Alcala's VOLTAR up? I believe it was collected in ROOK magazine in the early '80s (though originally drawn in 1963). I have a late '70s reprint, but it's not the whole story. Absolutely amazing!
