Groove's Faves: "The Crushing Conquer-Lord!" by Moench and Perlin

Greetings, Groove-ophiles! I dunno about you, but Young Groove absolutely flipped out when he saw Marvel Spotlight #28 (March, 1976) sittin' on Ye Olde Spinner Rack. That Don Perlin/Klaus Janson cover featuring Moon Knight was so unique and iconic it just pulled the change outta my pocket like a giant magnet. "The Crushing Conquer-Lord" didn't disappoint in the least, baby! Ya didn't have to know Moon Knight from Adam (or Werewolf by Night, where he made his debut--learn all about it here), 'cause Doug and Don had him all figured out, complete with cool motif, weapons, methods of travel, multiple identities (shades of The Shadow!), and supporting cast. Moonie just had to be the Next Big Thing! See if ya don't agree...

I couldn't bear the thoughts of waiting two whole months for the next part...but somehow I survived. Hope you survive 'til next week, Groove-ophiles!

As for the rest of ya, the purpose of this blog is to (re)introduce you to the great comics of the 1970s. If you like what you see, do what I do--go to a comics shop, bookstore, e-Bay or whatever and BUY YOUR OWN!
