Random Reads: Shang-Chi Faces "Frozen Past, Shattered Memories" by Moench and Russell
Greetings, Groove-ophiles! Y'know, when ya think of the awesome artistry of P. Craig Russell, you think of science fiction, fantasy, horror, super-heroes, and even opera--but rarely (if ever) does your mind's eye pair PCR and kung fu. However, Ol' Groove has dug up yet another sample of Russell's versatility, baby! Yep, you guessed it, PCR actually drew a Shang-Chi story! "Frozen Past, Shattered Memories", written by regular series writer Doug Moench, is a gem tucked neatly away in the far-out and groovy first issue of Giant-Size Master of Kung Fu (June 1974). Check it out, man!

As for the rest of ya, the purpose of this blog is to (re)introduce you to the great comics of the 1970s. If you like what you see, do what I do--go to a comics shop, bookstore, e-Bay or whatever and BUY YOUR OWN!

I've been in a MoKF mood all this Summer and of course references to the book must now pop up everywhere! It's finally getting some recognition as the great comic it was but will hopefully break past its cult status. Unlikley, but then it'll just continue being a well-kept secret.
