Hey, hey, hey, Groove-ophiles! By popular demand, here are the first two chapters of Roy Thomas, Howard Chaykin, and Tony DeZuniga's Star Wars strip from the first two issues of Marvel's tween/teen mag Pizzazz (Fall 1977). Ol' Groove is nothing if not accommodating!
The Force was strong in Pizzazz, as Star Wars ran in all sixteen issues, with Archie Goodwin taking over as writer and a plethora of artists taking turns on the strip beginning with Pizzazz #8. Wanna see more? Ya know what to do, Groove-ophiles!

As for the rest of ya, the purpose of this blog is to (re)introduce you to the great comics of the 1970s. If you like what you see, do what I do--go to a comics shop, bookstore, e-Bay or whatever and BUY YOUR OWN!

Yes, I wanna see more! And thanks for posting the first two "Pizzazz" chapters.
ReplyDeleteMore please!
ReplyDeleteThanks for this; always nice to see some obscure Chaykin work, even if here it looks like DeZuniga's style is a pit overpowering. And yes, of course, I'd like to see more...
