Diggin' Ditko: "Class Reunion" by Gill and Ditko

What it is, Groove-ophiles! We all know that Sturdy Steve Ditko co-created Dr. Strange with Stan the Man back during the dawn of the Marvel Age. We also know that Ditko left the strip in 1966, leaving the Master of the Mystic arts behind for good. Thing is, fandom would have loved it if Ditko had ever returned to Dr. Strange, 'cause nobody could draw creepy-cool-cosmic-conjuring like him. Every once in a while, we got a taste of what might have been, like this tale of revenge (almost like a twisted version of Dr. Strange's origin, y'think?) from Ghostly Haunts #48 (November 1975) written by Joe Gill (under the nom de plume "Tom Tuna"). As for the theme for today's sorcerous shocker, look at it this way: the only thing that could ever be worse than high school itself would be a..."Class Reunion"!

  1. Hi,

I'd like to correct the writing credit on the above comics drawn by Sterling Steve Ditko. I AM Thomas Tuna, NOT Joe Gill. That "nom de plume" has been floating around for years--and it was NEVER true. I wrote for Charlton at the same time as Joe, but I'm not him. I currently am editor in chief of Red Moon Features. Thanks for making this correction.

    Thomas A. Tuna

As for the rest of ya, the purpose of this blog is to (re)introduce you to the great comics of the 1970s. If you like what you see, do what I do--go to a comics shop, bookstore, e-Bay or whatever and BUY YOUR OWN!
