Groove's Faves: "The Skywalker" by O'Neil and Kirby

What it is, Groove-ophiles! Ol' Groove just realized it's been way too long since we dug some Justice, Inc. featuring the Avenger. Not only does ish #2  have a cool title, "The Skywalker" (makes ya wanna say, "Use the Force, Luke!" dunnit?) but it's by the certifiably dyn-o-mite team of Denny O'Neil and Jack Kirby (with Mike Royer inking and lettering, natch). You're gonna fall for this forgotten treasure, baby! (And you're gonna send me nasty e-mails on account'a that horrible pun!) Dig it!

  1. One of the grooviest things about the groovy age is that pulp heroes became famous all over again...

  2. Thanks for brightening my Thursday, Groove. I know that I'm in a minority, but "Justice, Inc." and "In the Days of the Mob" are my two favorite series that Kirby produced for DC during the groovy age.

  4. aw,yeah, that's the good stuff, alright, Groove! I loved Jack's Justice Inc run ( all of three issue, I think! ). pure class. when are DC gonna wise up and release nice colour collections of all Jack's non-4th World DC stuff? that would be the sweetest!

  7. Jack, by now, was just pumping the stuff out for DC to fulfill his set number of pages for them. It shows in his lack of enthusiasm for the work. I'm sure he was as disheartened as I was in the cancellation of most of his Fourth World stuff. Still it was Kirby, which meant top notch work from the (always) King of comics.
