Groovy Christmases Past! Making a Splash: Marvel Comics 40 Years Ago this Month

Here's a snap-shot of Merry Marvel from back in December of '71, Groove-ophiles! Check out the sensational splashes that helped to make our season bright...

(NOTE: Sparkling Scott Edelman recently shared some info on how art from Cap #147 is being "shared" in a quite controversial way. Read all about it here.)

How 'bout the debuts of the Beast (in Amazing Adventures), Gullivar Jones (in Creatures on the Loose), and Marvel Team-Up (with Spidey and the Torch, yet)! All'a that, plus the wrap-up to the Kree/Skrull War in the Avengers, the intro of the Air Walker and return of Galactus in the FF, Spidey vs. a Slayer, Conan meets Elric, and Marvel was still publishing westerns, romance, and war mags! Ho, ho, hoo-hah!

As for the rest of ya, the purpose of this blog is to (re)introduce you to the great comics of the 1970s. If you like what you see, do what I do--go to a comics shop, bookstore, e-Bay or whatever and BUY YOUR OWN!
