Bring On the Back-ups: "True Heroes Never Die...!" by Wein, Buckler, and Celardo

Greetings, Groove-ophiles! Today let's check out what was to have been the first (doggone that DC Implosion!) episode of the regular Hawkman back-up series for Detective Comics. "True Heroes Never Die...!" was written by Len Wein and illustrated by Rich Buckler and John Celardo for Detective Comics #479 (June 1978). Let it fly, Winged Wonder!

  1. It's like the whole thing was shot on a bluescreen or greenscreen and the CGI folks forgot to fill in the backgrounds.

  2. I really enjoyed the "back up" pieces in Detective, Adventure, etc. After the Atom's, Spectre's, Hawkman's, Aquaman's titles crapped out in the 60s, the only place you coud see them, besides JLA it seems, was there. IT was a cool trip for a young kid, when "everything new is cool." Thanks for showing them!
