Hey, hey, hey, Groove-ophiles! Would you have ever thought that Shang Chi and his gang would ever get mixed up in a game of cosmic chess between...? Nah, that would be giving it away. Read "The Phoenix Gambit Part I: Temples of Time" by Doug Moench, Mike Zeck (his MOKF debut!), and John Tartaglione from Master of Kung Fu #59 (September 1977) and see just who's behind our heroes' latest woes!

As for the rest of ya, the purpose of this blog is to (re)introduce you to the great comics of the 1970s. If you like what you see, do what I do--go to a comics shop, bookstore, e-Bay or whatever and BUY YOUR OWN!

As I may have mentioned before, MoKF is a Title I never read or bought, but I've seen the error of my ways. Thanks for showing it here, Groove!!
ReplyDeleteI see now why it was so well-regarded. Great comic!
I'm very curious to see how that chess-game turns out...

MOKF was blessed with an abundance of great art: Starlin, Gulacy, Zeck, united with the steady guidance of Doug Moench's scripting. Although the Gulacy run is my favorite of the series, Zeck's is a close second.
