Decent Comics: "Lure for an Assassin!" by O'Neil, Grell, Austin, and Giordano

Dig it, Groove-ophiles! Here comes yet another far-out Green Lantern/Green Arrow tale from the team of Denny O'Neil, Mike Grell, Terry Austin, and Dick Giordano! "Lure for an Assassin!" from ish #94 (January 1977) casts the spotlight on Green Arrow while, at the same time, giving John Stewart and Black Canary some shining moments. Wanna have some fun, Groovy Age style? Then let's gooooo!

  1. Terry Austin in those days reminded me of my drafting class in high school. Everything was crisp, fine lines, all angular. He had to have the smallest pen points around (along with P. Craig Russell when he inked himself). He was another creator I had good encounters with since I never failed to tell him how wonderful he was.

  2. I am of course a Grell fan, but I was slow to that. When his work first began I found his finishes as lush as the beloved Dave Cockrum, but his figures always seemed a bit stiff to me. As the years rolled by, I got over that prejudice and came to like his work on its own merits.
