Makin' Chaykin: "Banner of Blood!" by Kanigher and Chaykin

Hey, hey, hey, Groove-ophiles! Today we're gonna delve back into the Files of the Far-Out for another chapter of Robert Kangher and Howard Chaykin's Enemy Ace back-up series! "Banner of Blood!" comes from Men of War #12 (October 1978). Dig it, baby!

  1. Hey, Groove--
I seem to remember an earlier Joe Kubert-delineated EA story that also featured the wolf in the woods, the mother hen servant/cognac scene, and the field-strafing. Did they recycle, or were those common elements?

  2. Groove, I always love your posts, but man, it seems like this week you just decided to post stuff catered to me specifically: a Shang-Chi story drawn by Zeck & Day, another Starfire installment, early rare Simonson and now some more early Chaykin. Brilliant!

  3. I always loved these War comics by DC. I always wanted to see a DC/ Marvel cross over year long monthly. Like a Brave & the Bold book. Would had loved to seen/see a Enemy Ace vs the Phantom Eagle story. Capt.A & WW etc.
