Black and White Wednesday: Doug Moench and Mike Kaluta Go "Slinking Through the Psycho-Ward"

Here's a real gem hidden in the rare Haunt of Horror issue of Marvel Preview (#12, Fall 1977). Let's go "Slinking Through the Psycho-Ward" with the horror/mystery dream-team of Doug Moench and Mike Kaluta!

  1. Another awesome oldie that I remember reading as a kid.

  2. As big a Kaluta junkie as I am, I've never seen or known of this one. Much of the art looks almost like Wrightson. The story at points runs the range from profound and eloquent to groanworthy awful. Why by all that's holy would Moench throw that "patty cake" thing in the first panel? Just awful. Plus other awful lines. But overall, nice art and very much worth reading.

In some ways this story reminds me of Kaluta's obscure offering in WEIRD MYSTERY TALES 24 in 1975. It's definitely Kaluta work that's off the beaten path.
