Jonah Hex Weekend! Groove's Faves: "The Vow of a Samurai!"

Well, Groove-o-pards, today's the day we wind up our Jonah Hex Weekend. What better way to end it than with one of the most well-received Hex tales ever. "The Vow of a Samurai" (from Jonah Hex #39, May 1980) is special for a lot of reasons. For one thing, it marks the (short-lived) return of artist/co-creator Tony DeZuniga. For another, it's the final JH tale of the Groovy Age. But the biggie is that this story was considered one of the ten best DC stories of 1980 and included in The Best of DC #11 (January 1981). Dig it!

Hope you enjoyed our special JH Weekend! Whether you loved the movie or loathed it, Ol' Jonah's worth spending some time with here on the Diversions. Oh, and Happy Father's Day to all you pappy's out there! Pax!

As for the rest of ya, the purpose of this blog is to (re)introduce you to the great comics of the 1970s. If you like what you see, do what I do--go to a comics shop, bookstore, e-Bay or whatever and BUY YOUR OWN!
