Random Reads: "The History Holocaust!" by Marv Wolfman, Walt Simonson, and Rudy Nebres

Greetings, Groove-ophiles! Here's a forgotten gem from Ol' Groove's private stash--"The History Holocaust!" from John Carter Warlord of Mars #15 (May 1978). This story, written by Marv Wolfman with far-out art by Walt Simonson (layouts) and Rudy Nebres (finishes/inks), plays on our hero's hinted-at "immortal warrior" status, placing him back on Earth (sorta), first battling Genghis Khan and then fighting alongside Alexander the Great. True to creator Edgar Rice Burrough's characterization and continuing Wolfman's main theme for the series, it is Carter's love for his princess, Dejah Thoris, that carries the day. It's a pretty cool one-shot tale and not a bad swan-song to Wolfman's run as Warlord of Mars' regular writer.
