R.I.P. Richard Corben

 There was no  artist like Richard Corben, who passed December 2. While much of his output was too "mature" for Young Groove back in the Groovy Age, I have always admired his singular, savagely spectacular style. And THAT Meatloaf album cover.

Black and White Wednesday: "The Last War of the Worlds" by DuBay and Ortiz

What it is, Groove-ophiles! Here's a sci-fi shocker from Warren's 1984 #4 (August 1978) by Bill DuBay and Jose Ortiz. "The Last War of the Worlds" is a stunning sequel to (you guessed it) H.G. Wells' classic tale--but with a decidedly 1970s twist (but of course)!

Hey, hey, hey, Groove-ophiles! Has Ol' Groove got a sci-fi shocker for you! Digging through Warren's 1984 mag (trying to find something "PG" to use--no easy task!), what should appear but this highly pedigreed classic by Len Wein, Michael Netzer (formerly Mike Nasser), and Alfredo Alcala! Not a creative team you'd be normally wont so see, but here they are from 1984 #5 (cover-dated February 1979)..."The Box!"
