HooOOOW's it shakin', Groove-ophiles! Here's a ghostly classic from (where else) Charlton's Ghostly Haunts #23 (January 1972) by Joe Gill (probably) and Fred Himes (definitely)! This story makes Ol' Groove think of some little event that was in the news lately, but he can't quite put his finger on it...

The Boys from Derby: "The Curse of the Hanging Man" by Staton and Nicholas

Check it out, Groove-ophiles! You might not be able to tell it without studying the pages a bit, but "The Curse of the Hanging Man" from Ghost Manor Volume 2, Number 3 (December 1971) is actually Joe Staton's second Charlton job. Why is it so hard to tell? Charlton mainstay Charles Nicholas' heavy inks. Aren't you glad the editors quickly learned that the best inker for Joe Staton is Joe Staton?

The Boys from Derby: "The Enchanted Man" by Pat Boyette

Hey, hey, hey, Groove-ophiles! Over on the Charlton Facebook pages, Pat Boyette fever is runnin' wild. Mort Todd is working on getting an unpublished Boyette job featuring Cat Girl (written by Paul Kupperberg, no less) ready for print and, in the meantime, has been sharing some original PB art. Well, the cover of The Many Ghosts of Dr. Graves #51(March 1975) caught Ol' Groove's eye, so I thought all my pals n gals in Groove City would dig seeing not only the cover, but the cool story, "The Enchanted Man" written and illoed by Mr. Boyette as well!

And speaking of Mort and the gang's efforts at Charlton-Neo, they've started a GoFundMe campaign with tons of cool rewards (including comics, original art, and tee-shirts) to help keep money flowing as they lovingly and laboriously breathe new life into the classic comicbook company. Check it out, Groove-ophiles! Here's another of those "artist uses black magic to create art" stories (we think it was written by Joe Gill), but with a cool twist and even cooler Pete Morisi (PAM) art! From Ghostly Haunts #25 (April 1972) here's "Where Are They Now?"

What it is, Groove-ophiles! We're only a few short weeks away from the dazzling debut of Charlton Arrow Vol. 2, No. 1 featuring the return of E-Man and Nova! To celebrate, let's truck on back to April 1975 for E-Man #9 and "The Genius Plant!" This one has it all! A powered-up Nova! Teddy Q.! A cool, painted cover ('Cause Charlton had learned that painted covers were cheaper to print than standard comicbook covers! Who'd'a thunk it?)! Mike Mauser! General Dove (who looked like a cross between George C. Scott and Sarge from Sad Sack)! Scientists with big heads! And a villain who used the same tailor as The Red Ghost during the 70s * (talkin' 'bout the one RG wore in Defenders #'s 7-8)! This should hold ya until co-creators Nick Cuti and Joe Staton give us a brand new E-Man and Nova adventure next month!
