Black and White Wednesday: "Short Circuits" by Michael Uslan

Check it out, Groove-ophiles! Since we're a bit past April Fool's Day and nearing Friday the 13th, how about a kooky parody of DC's own Direct Currents called "Short Circuits"? Written by writer/producer Michael Uslan, "Short Circuits", for moi, offers more chuckles than groans. T'was published in The Amazing World of DC Comics #13 (cover dated November, but the indicia says October 1976). And what the hey, why not enjoy Sergio Aragones' cover for that wacky ish?

Black and White Wednesday: Jonah Hex (?!?)

Happy April Fool's Day, Groove-ophiles! To celebrate today's insanity, here's a little-seen Jonah Hex parody by JH creators John Albano and Tony DeZuniga! "Wha? Huh? Where'd that come from?" you ask? Well, y'see, circa 1971, a couple years before PLOP! came along, DC was planning a humor mag called Zany, which would feature parodies of various DC comics in each issue. Zany never saw the light of day, so this JH parody didn't see the light of day until issue #13 of DC's fan-mag, Amazing World of DC Comics (cover dated October, 1976). I don't think it's seen the light of day, since, either. Should it have stayed hidden in the dank, dark corners of forgotten funnybook lore? You decide...
