  1. WOW. Gene "the Dean" Colan really outdid himself here. I think I got singed by one of the Super-Skrull's fireballs just by reading this!

  2. Gene Colon is my favorite artist, for my money he was the true master.

  3. This was a terrific issue. Everything gelled together perfectly: Roy Thomas' crisp script, Gene the Dean's always magnificent pencils and, yes, even Vince Colletta's inks. Comics like this are why Marvel soon overtook DC as the number one Comics Publishing Company in the US.

  4. Even Marvel's 'B' books like this were still fun and filled with energy! But putting Vince Colletta inks on Gene Colan's fluidly beautiful and subtle pencils was like having the best fillet --- and then smothering it with ketchup.

  7. Hey Groove, awesome choice. Love me some classic Captain Marvel. I don't know if you noticed it but you have page 17 in there twice. It's the 7th page and the 18th page. Not sure if there is anything missing or not though.

    1. Fixed it, William. Thanks for noticing that. My browser seems to be having issues with BlogSpot. Wonder if anyone else gets a pic cloned when they drag it (but how'd it wind up way up there in the single digit pages...? Sheesh!)

  8. Groove Dude! I only saw this on my isty-bitsy phone this morning and now, when I should be hitting the hay, I couldn't cause I just had to see it on the big PC screen. Colan's art those last pages w/ Mar-vell fighting Skrull are just too too much! (Ummmmm, I have only one question... is next issue where Don Heck takes over the art? I recall somewhere in these earlier issues a sudden shift in the artist?) Cheers and THanks again for this. Made my day!
