Black and White Wednesay: "The Time Eater!" by Butterworth and Neary

Hey, hey, hey, Groove-ophiles! 'Tis the day before Thanksgiving here in the U.S. of A., so how's about a succulent sci-fi snack before we move on to tomorrow's annual feast! From Vampirella #40 (December 1974), here's Jack Butterworth and Paul Neary with..."The Time Eater!" (And no, Irving, it's not about FaceBook!)

  1. Great story, the Warren mags were head and shoulders above anything else at that point.

  2. It's amazing to me that Paul Neary could do such amazing Esteban Maroto-like work for Warren, then turn around and produce the unimaginative Captain America pencilling for Marvel many years later. I had thought maybe it was two different artists with the same name but read a bio of him and it was indeed the same person. Btw, Jack Butterworth sounds like a pseudonym.

  3. I was not aware that Neary had done any American work before signing with Marvel. Thank you, Groove.

As for the rest of ya, the purpose of this blog is to (re)introduce you to the great comics of the 1970s. If you like what you see, do what I do--go to a comics shop, bookstore, e-Bay or whatever and BUY YOUR OWN!
